Miami Vice

         Episode 56

Down For The Count

            Part 1

HOME

Original air date: 01/09/1987

The episode starts out at a boxing match. We have seen this arena before in the episode Milk Run, all though they have dressed up the exterior differently. We see Crockett and Tubbs arrive with Zito and Switek. They park on the water side or east side of the old Coast Guard Hangar at Dinner Key. Other than the name being clearly visible the exterior does not appear as it is normally seen. That is because they have covered over the windows on the hangar door and placed signs with canopies over them on the actual door. Apparently they did not plan on opening the door in the near future. We also see this location used in the movie All About The Benjamins.

This is the same door that Crockett and Tubbs come out of when they follow Louis Martinez in Milk Run.

With door closed

As seen in Milk Run.

I placed a star in the approximate location of Where Tubbs, Crockett, Switek, and Zito sit down.

C+T park here.

Next, we cut to Guzman’s house the next day. This was filmed at 1415 North View Drive, Sunset Island, Miami Beach. We have seen this same house used previously in Miami Vice. Episode 28, Junk Love.

Then we see the standard season 3 opening montage (Version 8).

Act 1 opens inside the OCB, a set at Greenwich Studios, Stage A.

Then we see Crockett and Tubbs on the road. In the first section they are in a business area with an elevated highway in the background. In the second part of the drive they are in a residential area that I have not placed yet. Location unknown.

Then they arrive at Don Cash’s home. Surprisingly Mr. Cash lives with Mr. Guzman, or at least they used the same house for filming this scene. This was filmed at 1415 North View Drive.

Then we return to the OCB (set).

Then we see C+T arrive at Guzman’s, 1415 North View Drive. They come from Lake Avenue onto North View Drive and into Guzman’s.

At Guzman’s they go about entrapping him.

Then we go to a boxing gym where Bobby is training. Thanks to Pinkflaming0 working with the group effort at miamiviceonline.com, we now know that this was filmed at 3555 NW 18th Avenue, Allapattah.

Then we see an exterior establishing shot of a trailer park. This park appears to be on a hillside and is likely reused stock footage from California.

Then we go inside the trailer. This was likely filmed at the studio or in the trailer park on the south side of the studio. Location unknown.

Then we go to the Bravo Gym on NW 18th Avenue. In the background and out the door we see the Allapattah Branch Library which is located at 1799 NW 35th Street

Then we return to Guzman’s on North View Drive.

Then it is back to Moon’s trailer. Location unknown.

Things do not go well for Moon and we see the Vice Squad arrive on the scene.

Then we go to the NW 18th Avenue gym.

Then we see Larry and Bobby go for a walk. This was filmed at Dinner Key near the Verick Arena in the same spot where we saw C+t talking with Izzy in episode 20, Nobody Lives Forever.

Then we return to the NW 18th Avenue gym where Guzman sends George Sordoni to make a contract offer to Bobby.

Then we see Crockett and Tubbs headed southbound through the 5300 block of Collins Avenue.

Then it cuts and they continue on their drive but the shot is too close to tell where they are.

Then we see them arrive at the NW 18th Avenue gym where they make a deal with Bobby.

Then we cut to a boxing match. This was filmed at Verrick Arena.

Then we cut to the OCB interior where Crockett pushes things along.

Then we cut to the arena locker room area. Location unknown.

Then we go to a bout between Hector Hidalgo and Bobby Sykes. This is set up to be the Miami Palmetto Arena but the filming location is unknown. Possibly a set at Greenwich.

Then we see Larry and Stan back stage in the locker room area. Location unknown.

Then we cut to the workout gym (3555 NW 18th Ave.) where Larry is putting things away. Guzman’s goons show up and very sadly it does not go well.

Then we see Stan arrive.

One of the saddest scenes of all time. The episode ends here but the story is to be continued...
